In one encounter a woman told Emily, “You know there’s private places where you can actually do this. You don’t need to be doing that in public.” Emily responded, “I’m sorry, I’m a new mom, I don’t know the rules. He’s hungry, I feed him.” The woman says, “Whatever” and walks away. There were a few other admonishing responses to Emily breastfeeding.
This is clearly a heated debate and we have seen a lot of it lately.
Salandino said, “I made the video due to requests from parents I got because of what happened on the Wendy Williams Show.” Recently actress, Alyssa Milano, was on the show defending extended breastfeeding.
Saladino’s video was posted to Facebook on Monday and has since racked up over 14 million views and has been shared almost 170,000 times. Saladino captioned the video, “Who here Breastfeeds? and feel free to comment a picture of it to make a statement to support public breastfeeding! Also share this video and write in #NormalizeBreastFeeding LETS MAKE IT TREND!”
I have to agree with Saladino’s sentiment. Breastfeeding is not a sexual thing, even though many people view breasts as sexual objects. It’s just a baby eating, people!
I for one, can’t wait for Salandino’s next video, he says, “I have a part two where I compare how people treat a girl with [visible cleavage] to a woman breastfeeding.”
